Issues of diversification of export routes and transit of Turkmen natural gas will be discussed at the international gas congress in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in Turkmenistan on May 23-24, 2018, a source close to the organizers of the event said.

The Turkmengaz State Concern acts as the organizer of the congress. It is expected that heads and representatives of leading oil and gas companies, international organizations and global financial institutions will take part in the work of the congress.

Business meetings of industry leaders with representatives of global oil and gas companies are planned to be held on the sidelines of the event.

Turkmenistan is one of key players in the gas market of the Caspian region and Central Asia. The country exports natural gas to China and Iran.

Construction of the Turkmen section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline is also underway. The project of laying the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline through Azerbaijan and Turkey to Europe is being discussed as well.
