The new Chakar gas field has been discovered in the Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the press service of Uzbekneftegaz JSC.
The field is located in the Bulakbashi district of the Andijan region.
In the near future, gas condensate studies are planned to clarify the parameters of the formations, as well as to drill new wells with a full range of geophysical surveys.
The first gas in Uzbekistan was produced in 1953 at the Setalan-tepe field in the Kyzyl-Kum desert. In 1962, with the introduction of transcontinental gas pipelines Bukhara-Ural and Central Asia - Center were laid in the development of the unique Gazli field.
Industrial oil development in Uzbekistan began in 1885. It was mined from two wells near the village of Cimion in the Fergana Valley. In 1900 serious exploration began in the area and in 1904 m gushing oil was obtained from a depth of more than 270.
