By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Well completion equipment will be installed soon at Azerbaijan’s Absheron gas field, a source in the country’s oil and gas market told Trend.

Regarding the early production scheme (EPS), which is being implemented by French Total and Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR as part of the project, the source noted that EPS is going on: drilling of the well is completed.

X-mas tree [Christmas trees are used on both surface and subsea wells. The primary function of a tree is to control the flow, usually oil or gas, out of the well] has been installed and installation of the well completion equipment will begin in the coming days, added the source.

The source went on to add that the fabrication of the platform to be installed at Oil Rocks field is ongoing in Bos Shelf yard.

“As regards to subsea production facilities, fabrication of equipment is well advanced and we plan to start laying flow line in Q4-2019 and umbilical in Q2-2020,” said the source.

SOCAR and Total signed a framework agreement in 2016 on the main contractual and commercial principles regulating the first phase of development of the Absheron field.

The first phase of the field’s development envisaged drilling one well at a sea depth of 450 meters. It is planned to produce up to 4 billion cubic meters of gas at the second stage.

Absheron’s reserves are estimated at 326 billion cubic meters of gas and 108 million tons of condensate, according to estimations of the Total specialists.
