Gas pipeline inaugurated in Khanji-Gazlo village of Georgia

The grand inaugurating of the recently completed gas pipeline took place in the village of Khanji-Gazlo of the municipality of Marneuli in the region of Kvemo Kartli in Georgia, Azerbaijan state oil company SOCAR told Trend.

The inaugurating ceremony was attended by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Dursun Hasanov, Governor of Kvemo Kartli region Shota Rekhviashvili, Mayor of Marneuli Zaur Dargalli, and management of SOCAR Energy Georgia and SOCAR Georgia Gas.

The construction of a gas distribution network in the village of Khanji-Gazlo was initiated and ordered by SOCAR Georgia Gas and agreed with the relevant authorities of Georgia. The length of the pipeline is 7,400 meters. As a result of these measures, 127 families in the village of Khanji-Gazlo gained access to gas. Some 86 households are already provided with gas in the Kvemo Kartli region. Currently, over 117,000 families in the region are supplied with gas.

Since 2009, SOCAR Georgia Gas has carried out laying a gas distribution line with a length of 11,500 km in total, which allowed connecting more than 305,000 customers to the network. The gas supply project implemented within the framework of the state program of Georgia is carried out in the regions identified by the Georgian Gas Transportation Company. SOCAR is also expanding its gas distribution network in over 700 settlements, including in areas where ethnic Azerbaijanis live.
