Tourist flow to Azerbaijan from Central Asian countries rises significantly in April 2024

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Azerbaijan was visited by 12,828 tourists from Central Asian countries in April 2024, which is 37 percent higher than the figure for the same period in 2023 (9,393), Trend reports.

According to the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, the tourist numbers from various countries are as follows: Kazakhstan - 5,684 (61 percent increase compared to last year); Uzbekistan - 3,467 (six percent increase); Turkmenistan - 2,512 (34 percent increase); Kyrgyzstan - 783 (85 percent increase); and Tajikistan - 382 (30 percent decrease compared to last year).

A total of 48,982 tourists from Central Asian countries visited Azerbaijan from January through April this year, which is 69 percent higher than the figure for the same period in 2023 (29,052 people).

Meanwhile, 726,284 foreigners visited Azerbaijan from January through April this year, which is 39 percent more than in 2023 (523,305).

A total of 2,086,548 foreigners visited Azerbaijan in 2023, which is over 30.2 percent higher than in 2022 (1,602,600), including 134,589 from Central Asian countries, which is 82.31 percent higher than the figure of 2022 (73,823).

Additionally, Azerbaijan welcomed a combined total of 545,730 foreigners from Central Asian countries between 2017 and 2023. Among them were 225,124 from Kazakhstan, 145,216 from Turkmenistan, 135,941 from Uzbekistan, 21,296 from Kyrgyzstan, and 18,153 from Tajikistan.
