By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgian electricity distribution company Telasi distributed 2.1 billion kW/h of electricity from January through September 2019, which is 3.2 percent less than in the same period of 2018 (2.2 billion kW/h), Trend reports referring to the company website.

The decrease in distribution occurred as one the largest consumers, BBD Georgia, has become a participant in the free electricity market and no longer buys Telasi products.

Due to changes in the legislation of Georgia from May 1, 2018, large consumers of electricity can make purchases in the free market.

From January through September 2019, the volume of net supply of electricity to consumers decreased by 3.4 percent (by 72 million kWh) compared to the same period in 2018, and amounted to 2 billion kWh of electricity. The decline in this indicator also led to a significant transition of consumers to the free market.

Within nine months of 2019, the number of subscribers of JSC Telasi increased by 4.1 percent (25,500 subscribers) compared to the same period of 2018 and amounted to 651,000 subscribers, of which 586,500 are individuals and 64,500 are legal entities.

From January through September 2019, the total length of the company's power lines reached 5,840 km, which is 5 percent (278 km) higher than the figure for the same period last year (5,562 km). The total length of the company's power lines has increased due to the development of the network, increasing the number of subscribers and renovation and modernization work.

JSC Telasi is one of the largest electricity distribution companies in Georgia, which distributes electricity in Tbilisi. The company supplies electricity to more than 600,000 consumers. JSC Telasi joined Inter RAO in August 2003. Inter RAO Group is a diversified energy holding that participates in many sectors of the power industry in Russia and abroad.
