A record in electricity consumption was set in Iran on June 14, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.
Iran consumed 56,012 megawatts of electricity on that day, said the ministry.
“Such an indicator has been recorded for the first time in the current Iranian year [began March 20, 2020],” report said.
“More than 52,870 megawatts of electricity were consumed in Iran in the same period last Iranian year [from March 21, 2019 to March 2020],” report noted.
The total electricity generation potential in Iran is more than 82,000 megawatts.
Iran also cooperates with neighboring countries in the area of electricity. In addition, Iran exports more than 1,000 megawatts of electricity to Iraq daily.
