Azerbaijan scales up electricity export, import in 2021

Electricity exports from Azerbaijan in 2021 grew, Trend reports citing the country's Energy Ministry.

According to the ministry, this figure amounted to over 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours, up by 254.9 million kilowatt-hours on annual basis.

Of the total electricity export, 720.6 million kilowatt-hours accounted for Turkey, 600.1 million kilowatt-hours - Georgia, 257.5 million kilowatt-hours - Iran, and 95.2 million kilowatt-hours - Russia.

Besides, last year, Azerbaijan increased electricity imports by 15.1 million kilowatt-hours (9.96 percent) compared to 2020 - up to 151.6 million kilowatt-hours.

Some 95.1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were imported from Russia, 31.9 million kilowatt-hours - from Iran and 24.6 million kilowatt-hours - from Georgia.
