BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 12. Diesel shortage will end in Ukraine in two or three months and the gasoline supply situation will improve, director of SOCAR Energy Ukraine Igor Orlov told Forbes, Trend reports.

“The situation is stabilizing, the fuel market in Ukraine is improving in July. This month will see the demand for diesel to be covered by 80 percent, while the gasoline demand will be covered by around 50 percent. Autogas shortage was overcome in early June. The situation is almost the same in all regions of the country. I expect fuel consumption in Ukraine to drop by 20 percent year-on-year and stand at around 800,000 tons per month,” he said.

Orlov pointed out that prices will go down after the shortage is overcome.

“The autogas prices have already decreased by 10 percent, while diesel prices will be reduced by about 5 percent. However, for now, I don’t expect reduction in gasoline prices. It is very difficult to forecast prices now. On the one hand, oil quotations went down, which reduces the final cost of fuel. On the other hand, prices are affected by a significantly increased exchange rate, as well as logistics. For example, Ukrzaliznytsia recently raised its tariffs by 70 percent. However, there will not be an acute shortage. Market players have established logistics, purchased fuel trucks, found contractors,” SOCAR Energy Ukraine’s director added.
