ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 1. Turkmenistan has the lowest gasoline prices among Central Asian countries as of April 29, 2024, Trend reports.

According to the Global Petrol Prices (GPP) webpage, gasoline in Turkmenistan costs $0.42 per liter.

In the Central Asian countries ranking, Turkmenistan is followed by Kazakhstan ($0.55 per liter), Kyrgyzstan ($0.81 per liter), and Uzbekistan ($1.09 per liter).

Tajikistan was not included in the report, although government data show that the country's average retail gasoline price is 0.99 per liter.

Furthermore, the rating data suggest that Turkmenistan is ranked seventh in the world for fuel affordability.

For worldwide comparison, Iran has the world's lowest gasoline price ($0.02 per liter), while Hong Kong has the highest ($3.2 per liter).

Meanwhile, gasoline prices vary among countries due to the application of different fuel taxes and subsidies.

While all countries purchase oil at comparable international market prices, the varying taxation policies result in differing retail prices for gasoline.
