The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has set up preparation of Gunashli 4 platform installed on the shallow water Gunashli field for independent implementation of program on collection of law-pressure gas on the shallow water Gunashli field, the SOCAR told Trend. A place for installation of a gas compression station allocated for increase of pressure is cleared on the platform. Water injection pumps currently based on the platform will be demounted and installed on Gunashli 9 platform.
The program is developed at the expense of $481,250 grant of the World Bank. The funds for implementation of the project are allocated by the Japanese government. A working group on development of the program will be established soon.
The program will envisage construction of gas compressor station on free part of the Guneshli-4 platform. The station will allow the Company to increase pressure of gas and transport it to the coast. SOCAR will extract 4.9bn cu m of gas per year from the Gunashli field by 2010. At present the figure is equal to 2.2bn cu m of gas.
Around 1.6m cu m of low-pressure gas is wasted on shallow water Gunashli and around 800,000 cu m on the Chirag field.
