Azerbaijan to Supply Turkey with Energy Commencing from 2007

Azerbaijan will pay its debt for electric power with electricity. Sources in Ankara told that the representatives of Turkey and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on the issue on returning the Azerbaijani debt at the volume of $165 m. for the Turkish energy supply (459 m. KWt) to Nakchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan since 1992, Trend reports referring to Turkish media sources.

According to the agreement, the debt will be returned by the energy supply to Turkey from Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The energy supply is expected to be launched starting from January 1, 2007, and will last within 10 years. Since the very date, the Turkish energy delivery to Nakhchivan will be suspended.

According to representatives of Turkey`s energy company TETAЕћ, at present, the Turkish party supply Nakhchivan with the power of 40 MWt. That means that starting from 2007 the Azerbaijani party will commence supply the Turkish provisions bordering with Azerbaijan with the power of 80 РњWt. This figure will fully substitute the needs of the Turkish province of Igdir, the Turkish company told.
