Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr S.Aliyev / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has developed an action program for 2006-2010 aimed at ensuring the ecological balance in the territory of SOCAR.
SOCAR reported that under the program it plans to carry out work worth AZN 533mln, including AZN 91mln to be spent in 2007.
Currently land treatment work is being carried out in the polluted areas of Bibiheybat field. Furthermore, there are plans to cancel over-flooded wells, drain the lakes, prevent spillage of sewerage water and water used for their repair. There are also plans to clear up inactive derricks, lay cables for the electric system and to create communications lines.
A meeting was held at the Bibiheybat field to consider ways to resolve these problems. Attending the meeting were Vice-President of SOCAR, Mikayil Ismayilov, General Director of Azneft, Shahin Ismayilov, Heads of Ecology Units, Saltan Aliyev, and Head of Capital Investments Department, Agasaf Aliyev.
