By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

To date, the "New Synergy" joint economic program of Kazakhstan and Turkey includes 32 investment projects totaling $1 billion, Vice Minister for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Arystan Kabikenov told Trend.

Kazakhstan and Turkey signed the program of economic cooperation in 2012.

"Since the adoption of the program, 23 investment projects totaling about $800 million have been implemented and 4,400 jobs have been created," the vice minister said.

During the official visit of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Turkey in September this year, an agreement was reached to update the list of projects included in the program.

Kabikenov also said that Turkey is an important strategic trade and economic partner of Kazakhstan.

Since Kazakhstan gained independence, Turkey has invested more than $3 billion in the country. Moreover, Turkey is among the top 10 trade partners of Kazakhstan.

Trade turnover between the two countries in 2017 increased by 27 percent and amounted to almost $2 billion.

At the September meeting, the Kazakh and Turkish presidents agreed to increase the trade turnover to $5 billion in the future.
