The value of Kazakhstan’s monetary base amounted to 6.3 trillion tenge ($16.6 billion) in January 2020, which is 9 percent less than at the beginning of the year, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.
“The narrow reserve money equaled 4.9 trillion tenge ($13.2 billion), which is 8.3 percent less than in beginning of the year,” the report said.
“In turn, the value of currency in circulation stood at 2.2 trillion tenge ($5.8 billion), which is 4.8 percent less than in the beginning of the year,” the statement said.
M1 money aggregate decreased by 5.3 percent since the beginning of the year and amounted to 5.6 trillion tenge ($14.9 billion), while M2 money aggregate decreased by 3.2 percent and equaled 15.5 trillion tenge ($41.3 billion).
“The broad money value amounted to 20.9 trillion tenge ($55.5 billion), which is 2.1 percent less than in the beginning of the year,” the report said.
The gross international reserves of Kazakhstan’s National Bank amounted to $29.3 billion in January 2020, according to the preliminary data.
International reserves overall, i.e. including the foreign currency denominated assets of the National Fund ($61.1 billion) equaled $90.4 billion as at the end of January 2020.
