Money supply increased in Uzbekistan

From January through August 2020 the total money supply in Uzbekistan increased by 15.5 percent, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

The total money supply in Uzbekistan reached 105.4 trillion soums ($10.3 billion) against an increase of 15.2 percent over the same reported period last year.

The money supply in the national currency increased from January through August 2020 by 17.5 percent to 73.8 trillion soums ($7.19 billion), including cash in circulation, which increased by 20, 7 percent to 29.6 trillion soums ($2.88 billion) and deposits in the national currency, which increased by 15.5 percent (11.6 percent) to 44.5 trillion soums ($4.33 billion).

Deposits in foreign currency increased by 11.1 percent in eight months of this year and amounted to 30.1 trillion soums ($2.93 billion) in the equivalent of the national currency against an increase of 19.8 percent in eight months of last year.

Earlier it was reported that the total money supply in Uzbekistan increased by 13.8 percent at the end of 2019 to 91.3 trillion soums ($8.89 billion) against an increase of 13.2 percent at the end of 2018, including in the national currency, which increased by 14.4 percent to 62.8 trillion soums ($6.12 billion).
