Individual deposits in Azerbaijan continue to decrease

The total volume of individuals’ deposits in Azerbaijan from January through September 2020 made up 7.83 billion manat ($4.61 billion), which is 9 percent less than the same indicator of last year, Trend reports citing a report from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

The figure includes 3.6 billion manat, or $2.1 billion of deposits in the national currency (46.1 percent of the total volume), and 4.2 billion manat, or $2.4 billion in foreign currency (53.9 percent).

According to the CBA report, in the structure of deposits of individuals, transactions of residents as of early October this year amounted to 7.55 billion manat ($4.44 billion), which is 7.1 percent less than in the same period of 2019. In these transactions, the national and foreign currencies accounted for 3.5 billion manat ($2.06 billion) and 4.04 billion manat ($2.38 billion), respectively.

The share of operations of non-residents in the structure of individuals’ deposits made up 3.6 percent or 281.3 million manat ($165.5 million), including 103 million manat ($60.6 million) in national currency, and the remaining 178.3 million manat ($104.9 million) in foreign currency.

The total volume of deposits in Azerbaijan at the beginning of October 2020 amounted to 22.5 billion manat ($13.2 billion), which is four percent less than the same indicator of last year
