Uzbekistan will increase exports to $19.2 billion, with imports of $22.7 billion and a negative balance of $3.5 billion in 2021, Trend reports referring to the official forecast published by Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan.

Acceding to the information, foreign trade in Uzbekistan is forecast to increase in 2021 to pre-crisis 2019 levels as the global economy gradually recovers and foreign trade resumes.

The report noted that exports in 2019 amounted to $17.5 billion, and imports - $24.3 billion with a negative balance of $6.8 billion.

The expected forecast of exports for 2020 amounts to $17.7 billion, imports - $20.9 billion with a balance of $3.2 billion.

The planned measures to stimulate exports include expansion of geography, which is access to European and Asian markets, as well as state support for exporting enterprises, including through the provision of subsidies to cover part of transport costs.

Acceding to the ministry, the presented forecasts are prepared on the basis of an assessment of socio-economic development, which provides for the stabilization of situation with COVID-19 until the end of 2020 and a gradual recovery of economic growth in 2021.

“At the same time, taking into account the duration of the external impact and the severity of the consequences of the pandemic on certain industries and sectors of the economy, their exit to pre-crisis trends may go beyond 2021,” said the report.
