About 560 billion rials (about $13.3 million) worth of loans have been issued for the purchase of agricultural machinery in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southeastern Iran) since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020), said Amanullah Tughi, Deputy Director of Agriculture Department of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Trend reports citing the department’s website.
According to Tughi, more than 300 new tractors and agricultural machinery were purchased with loans issued in cooperation with Bank Keshavarzi Iran.
The deputy director added that the ratio of agricultural machinery in the province increased from 1.8 horsepower to 2 horsepower per hectare with the purchase of new equipment.
There are 8,800 tractors, 65 combines, and other equipment in the agricultural sector in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province, at present.
According to the climate, mango, banana, papaya, guava, pineapple, coconut, olive, pomegranate, citrus fruits, and others are grown in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province of Iran. It is also possible to grow crops twice a year in this province.
