Communication Services Exceed 60% in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic

Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 August / Trend corr. S.Babayeva/ In January to July, 2008, communication services in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan totalled AZN 13mln, 61.6% up from the same period of 2007, NAR permanent representation office in Baku reported on 30 August.

The cost of the services rendered by the NAR Communication and IT Ministry totalled AZN 2.6mln, 43% increase.

The Ministry laid 2,434 telephone lines within seven months.

NAR, with the total square of 5,500 sq km and the population of over 360,000 people is located south-west of Azerbaijan, its north-east bordering on Armenia and south-west on Turkey and Iran. Nakhchivan city is the capital of NAR.
