A conference on the topic "IT-IP: protection and transfer of new knowledge," has today started its work in Baku.
The event is dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Day, annually held on April 26.
Azerbaijani Copyright Agency director Kamran Imanov said that stringent requirements related to protection of intellectual property may encourage owners to create new products. He further stated that information technology plays an important role in presenting new products to the public.
Addressing the conference, Deputy Communications and Information Technologies Minister Elmir Velizade said that the development of the global Internet network makes the issue of intellectual property protection urgent. In recent years, he said, great attention has been paid to the protection of intellectual property, including licensing software products in Azerbaijan.
The conference is organized by the Azerbaijani Copyright Agency and the Communications and IT Ministry.
The conference is attended by well-known academics, Azerbaijani MPs, as well as representatives of governmental and nongovernmental organizations.
Participants are discussing the problems of information technology, intellectual property protection, issues of theft of tangible and intangible heritage, as well as intellectual property owned by Azerbaijan and, in this regard, historical falsification issues.
