Skype and Viber resumed their work in Uzbekistan, the Narodnoye Slovo (xs.uz) website reported citing CEO of Uzbektelecom JSC Farhod Roziev.

According to him, the Uzbektelecom engineers have done a lot of work to eliminate the problems, the most painful of which were interruptions.

Skype stopped working in Uzbekistan in 2015.

In 2017, Uzbektelecom reported the beginning of testing of an Uzbek analogue of the messenger. The Uzbek side needed to develop a customized local version of the application due to the desire to get a share in the revenues of foreign companies and provide users with services that could consume less traffic.

The new application is planned to be integrated to work with smart TVs and surveillance cameras. At the same time, the company's technical capabilities allow to serve up to one million users.
