BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 26. A total of 82 percent of small, medium and large organizations in the world intend to increase the budget aimed at combating cyber incidents, Azerbaijan’s Bestcomp Group IT company told Trend.

According to the company, only 28 percent of small businesses are ready to withstand cyber incidents.

"It takes nearly 287 days to detect and prevent a data breach. The average cost of a data breach in the US is $4.24 million. A total of 28 percent of successful cyber attacks were the result of non-observance of cyber hygiene by company employees," Bestcomp Group said.

The company also noted that the suspension of a business for one hour during a cyber attack by a ransomware trojan costs $250,000 to large companies.

"Last year, three out of four companies fell victim to this type of attack. Their number increased by 61 percent Compared to 2020. The number of phishing attacks in 2021 increased by 31 percent compared to last year. This type of attack continues to lead the list of cyber threats," added Bestcomp Group.

More than 96 percent (4,502 out of 4,674) of cyber threats were prevented in Azerbaijan in 2021.
