Azerbaijani Communications Ministry Developing Guidelines on Electronic Trade

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / Guidelines on the development of the electronic trade in Azerbaijan will be developed by the end of 2007 for the first time.

According to data provided by the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry on 4 June, the first stage of the project includes the study of the common state of E-trade in the country. Later, exact proposals and guidelines will be developed for companies interested in carrying on electronic trade business in Azerbaijan. The companies will be able to get the guidelines free of charge.

The documents will be developed by a working group including scientists of different Azerbaijani Institutes of Higher Education. The consultant for the project is the company Silverkey. All financial expenditure has been undertaken by the Ministry.

The Ministry notes a very high interest in the introduction of electronic commerce from the population.

"Electronic trade includes financial operations and bargains implemented through the internet and private networks, in the course of which to purchase and sell of goods and services, as well as money transfers are carried out."
