Azercell Increases Number of Stations in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / Aiming to provide quality communication throughout the country, Azerbaijani mobile operator Azercell continues its installation of new radio bases all over the country. Azercell Telecom JV installed eighteen more stations during June. Twelve of them are located in Baku, two in Gabala and four other stations in Lankaran, Sabirabad, Shaki and Shamkir regions.

"Azercell" has installed a total of two Home Location Registers, thirteen Base Stations Controller Systems, sixteen Mobile Services Switching Centres, and 1,195 radio base stations. The inreased number of Azercell's base stations provides its subscribers with quality mobile communication service in every corner of the country.

Today, the number of Azercell's subscribers exceeds 2.5mln. The company covers 78% of the country's territory and 99% of its population with its mobile communication network.

Azercell JSC was established on 19 January 1996 by Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS and the Azerbaijan Ministry of Telecommunications.

Azercell Telekom is a joint venture of the Azerbaijani Telecommunication and IT Ministry (35.7%) and Fintur Holdings BV (64.3 %), with 58.55% belonging to TeliaSonera and 41.45% to Turkcell.
