Russian tourist inflow to Turkey increases by nearly 30%

Russian tourists are in the lead by the number of foreign tourists who visited Turkey in June 2018, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey told Trend Aug. 21.

In June 2018, 989,983 tourists from Russia visited Turkey, which is 29.63 percent more than in the same month of 2017.

The ministry noted that the share of Russian citizens in the total number of foreigners who visited Turkey in June 2018, amounted to 21.97 percent.

In June 2018, Turkey was visited by 5,091,496 tourists in total, which is 28.49 percent higher than the indicator for the same month of 2017.

In June 2018, Turkey was visited by 451,699 tourists from Germany, 306,647 - from the UK, 241,095 - from Ukraine and 210,989 tourists from Bulgaria. The remaining 3,881,066 tourists who visited Turkey in June 2018, fall to the share of other states.

During the above-mentioned period, the Turkish province of Antalya was visited by 1,933,899 tourists, accounting for 42.92 percent of the total number of tourists.

In June 2018, Istanbul was visited by 1,100,389 tourists, which account for 24,42 percent of the total number of tourists.

At the end of January-June 2018, the number of tourists visiting Turkey amounted to 15,968,001 people, which is 30.36 percent more than the indicator for the first half of 2017.
