Iran reveals number of companies interested in investing in Chabahar Port

TEHRAN, Iran, March3

A total of 53 companies have requested to invest in Iran's Chabahar Port in the current Iranian year (started March21,2019), said the director general of Sistan and Balouchestan Ports and Maritime Organization.

"Considering the strategic location of Chabahar about 170 foreign and domestic investors have visited the area in current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019)," said Behrouz Aghaee, Trend reports citing TASNIM.

"The following visits have led to 53 investment request and signing 7 contracts valued at $97 million," he added.

The official has indicated Chabahar port has access to open and international waters and its attracted to private sectors.

"Construction of storehouse in 27,000 square meter area with storage capacity of 720,000 tons per year was one of the invest projects in Chabahar during the current year," he added.

"Installing 2 reservoirs for oil products in a 34,000 square meter area with annual storage capacity of 750,000 tons was also another important contract signed between private sector investors and Ports and Maritime Organization," he said.

Chabahar is located in southeastern Iran. It serves as Iran's only oceanic port, and consists of two separate ports named Shahid Kalantari and Shahid Beheshti.
