The 15,000th container with polypropylene has been transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, a subsidiary of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, ADY Container LLC this week, Trend reports referring to the company.

According to ADY Container, the 15,000th container was connected to the train running on the Turkmenistan-Turkey route.

In turn, this week Azerbaijani Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade stated that a new stage of restoration work has been launched in the territories liberated from occupation.

"The work is already underway on the construction and reconstruction of highways to our historic Shusha city and a number of other cities and villages, the work is underway to restore the Barda-Aghdam railway leading to Khankendi city. These are only the first projects," the minister stressed.

On December 16, the first freight train with export goods from Turkey, via transit through Port of Baku on Dec.10, arrived in Chinese Khorgos city at the state border between Kazakhstan and China.

The total length of the route of the train loaded with 42 containers with refrigerators made in Turkey is 8,693 kilometers (2 continents, 2 seas, and 5 countries).

As Turkish Ministry of Transport stated, the estimated travel time from Turkey (since Dec.4) to China is 12 days.

The train, which covered 8.693 kilometers (two continents, two seas and five countries), was loaded with 42 containers with refrigerators made in Turkey.

Besides, this week it was reported the volume of goods transported through the Azerbaijani section of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) corridor from January through October 2020.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, this volume amounted to 32.7 million tons.

At the same time, as follows from the report of the State Statistics Committee, 17.9 million tons or 54.9 percent of all cargo was transported by road; about 10.6 million tons or 32.4 percent of all cargo was transported by rail and 4.16 million tons or 12.7 percent - by sea, about 6.8 million tons, or 20.8 percent of all cargo are transit cargo.

The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads reported that over the past five years, more than 6,000 kilometers of roads have been reconstructed and repaired, about 1,500 kilometers of reconstructed roads fell on the republican-level roads.
