The Director-General of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Ports and Maritime Organization announced that the 10-year contract with the Indian operator will be activated in the next few days.
“The first shipment of new equipment of Shahid Beheshti port will arrive in Chabahar port in mid-January, the value of which is 8 million Euros,” the Director-General of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Ports and Maritime Organization, Behrouz Aghaiee said, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
“In the form of an investment of an Indian company in Chabahar and according to the contract, these equipment are among the obligations of this foreign company for the development of Shahid Beheshti port,” he added.
He went on to say that as soon as the first shipment of equipment is imported, a 10-year investment contract with an Indian operator will be activated.
“The foreign operator of this port is not going to be changed,” he said.
In May 2016, India Ports Global and Iran's Aria Banader Iranian Port and Marine Services Company signed a deal to equip and operate the Shahid Beheshti terminal at Chabahar port, with a capital investment of $85.21 million and annual revenue expenditure of $22.95 million, on a 10-year lease.
