Uzbekistan increases import of electric cars

The number of electric cars imported by Uzbekistan from abroad in 2020 amounted to 131 cars, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee, this figure is 92 units more compared to the same period last year.

The State Statistics Committee reports that this year 92 electric vehicles were imported from China, 13 from South Korea, seven electric cars each were imported from Georgia and the US, five cars from Germany, as well as 7 from other countries of the world.

According to the information, Uzbekistan in 2020 spent $2.9 million on the import of electric vehicles.

Earlier it was reported that the construction of an electric vehicle assembly plant began in the Kokand region of Uzbekistan in August 2020.

The total cost of the project, implemented jointly with the Chinese Silk Road Company, accounts for $30 million, including $24 million in foreign investment.

According to preliminary calculations, the estimated cost of a domestic electric vehicle will amount to $3,000. The company plans to start producing electric vehicles in 2021.

It was noted that the electric car is similar to the Mercedes AMG not only in the badge but also in the interior.
