BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) grew by 33 percent in the 10th month of the current Iranian year (December 22, 2023 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
Data from the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) shows that around 4.32 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port in the 10th month. Of that, 1.97 million tons were loaded, and about 2.35 million tons were unloaded.
Nearly 1.48 million tons of cargo were exported and about 2.15 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. Also, 415,000 tons of cargo were loaded at the port for transit.
During the 10th month, 78,000 tons of cargo were loaded, and roughly 198,000 tons were unloaded at the port for cabotage.
At the same time, 564 tons of cargo were loaded, and 1,140 tons were unloaded for other purposes.
Some 1.64 million tons of essential products, 56,600 tons of metal products, 482,000 tons of construction and mining materials, 483 tons of equipment, vehicles, spare parts, and 380,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port during the 10th month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, 81,300 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 85,100 tons of container products, and about 1.6 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
In total, 13.1 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 10th month of the current Iranian year. Of that, about 6.91 million tons were loaded and 6.19 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 28.4 percent compared to the same month last year.
