Kazakhstan and Israel may cooperate in the oil and gas projects, Israeli Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Astana Tasman Eliyahu told Trend today.

"The perspective gas fields with reserves amounting to more than 1 billion cubic meters were discovered in the Mediterranean Sea off the Israeli coast," he said. "This will give impetus to the development of new technologies that may be of interest to your country."

He added that Israel imports Kazakh goods worth $1.5 billion, mainly oil and grain. The export volume from Israel to Kazakhstan amounted to $126 million as of 2012.

Tasman reminded that Kazakhstan and Israel have signed more than 20 contracts and agreements. The leaders of two independent countries have mutual understanding and respect. Kazakhstan was the first Central Asian country which opened its embassy in Tel Aviv.
