Kazakhstan begins 5G testing in Nur-Sultan, Almaty

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 6

Trend:

Kazakhstan’s telecommunication operators have begun testing 5G in certain locations in Nur-Sultan and Almaty, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Bagdat Mussin said, Trend reports referring to minister’s post on Twitter.

"Some residents of Nur-Sultan and Almaty could already note that the internet speed is higher than ever. We have allocated frequency bands for test deployment of 5G networks. Telecom operators have begun testing 5G in certain locations in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty. The first measurements show a good result," Mussin wrote.

5G is the fifth generation of mobile communications operating on the basis of telecommunication standards (5G / IMT-2020), following the existing 4G / IMT-Advanced standards.

5G technologies must provide higher bandwidth compared to 4G technologies, which implies greater availability of mobile broadband, as well as the use of device-to-device modes (direct connection between subscribers), lower latency, 1-2 Gbps Internet speed, superior power efficiency to 4G models.
