BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 9. Trade turnover between Norway and Kazakhstan amounted to $76.3 million from January to September 2023, a source at Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries told Trend.

As the source noted, compared to the same period in 2022, trade turnover fell by 27 percent.

"Seafood is still the largest export goods from Norway (89 percent of all exports). Cereals comprise the most important import commodity from Kazakhstan to Norway," the source said.

At the same time, according to the source, trade between Norway and Kazakhstan is limited.

"Total trade in goods amounted to approximately $147.7 million in 2022. This represented a substantial increase (70 percent) compared to the previous year," the source said.

The source pointed out that the main reason for this is increased import to Norway of aluminum, articles thereof and mineral fuels and oil.

"There was also an increase in the export to Kazakhstan from Norway of seafood which represents the largest commodity in our common trade (total value 2022 – $95.6 million, almost 65 percent of the total trade)," the source added.

Kazakhstan’s foreign trade turnover in 2022 reached a historically high level of $134.4 billion. The trade surplus amounted to $34.3 billion, which is 82 percent better than in 2021 and four times more than in 2020.

Export volumes amounted to $84.4 billion. By 2021, foreign sales volumes had increased by 40 percent, and by 2020, they had increased by 78 percent.

Import volumes to Kazakhstan reached $50 billion for the first time, updating the 2013 record ($48.8 billion).
