2.5 thousand retainers ensure order at the polling stations in Bishkek, told reporters the Chief of Staff of Mayor of Bishkek Ermek Mamyrkaliyev on Sunday.

"Order in the capital on election day provide 2.5 thousand retainers. Approximately 10 people are in each of the 204 polling stations. Still about 500 people held in reserve ", - said Mamyrkaliyev.

According to Mamyrkaliev, the task of them is assistance to police in case of incidents.

"All the combatants will be working in 3 shifts to the polls" - said the chief of staff of voluntary people's militia (VPM) Dzhanbolot Abdykalykov.

He recalled that the VPM was created with the mayor's office in Bishkek in 2010. Volunteers provide the procedure on a voluntary basis.

Presidental elections started in Kyrgyzstan on Sunday.

The polling stations were opened at 8:00 a.m. According to the new Constitution the President of Kyrgyzstan is elected for six years and only one presidential term.

2289 polling stations will as well as 29 polling stations in 23 countries worldwide.

Over 3 million voters are registered in the country to date.

792 international observers from 56 countries will monitor the elections.
