Kyrgyz President to appeal UN for financial support

Kyrgyzstan plans to appeal the UN Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO) for financial support to peace building process in the Southern Kyrgyzstan, KyrTAG reports.

Kyrgyzstan plans to appeal the UN Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO) for financial support to peace building process in the Southern Kyrgyzstan, KyrTAG reports.

Kyrgyz President Rosa Otunbayeva will visit with the U.S. next week with this regard.

"I am leaving for New-York to speak with PBSO members on the importance of financing the peace building in the South of the country," Mrs. Otunbayeva said.

The President's visit program has not been detailed.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon approved the allocation of $7 million from UN Peacebuilding Fund to Kyrgyzstan in June, 2011.

The situation in the Southern Kyrgyzstan destabilized after the shift of power in April, 2010.
