New deals with China to boost Kyrgyzstan's energy sector

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 19. Kyrgyzstan and China signed 29 documents with a total value exceeding $1 billion during the Kyrgyzstan-China Business Forum held in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, Trend reports.

Among these documents, several hold particular importance for Kyrgyzstan's energy sector:

An Agreement on Cooperation was inked between the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, the Green Energy Fund under the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, the "National Electric Grids of Kyrgyzstan JSC", and the Chinese "Molin Energy Company". The agreement focuses on joint efforts to implement construction projects for solar power stations within Kyrgyzstan.

An intention agreement was reached for the construction of the Sary-Jaz Cascade Hydropower Plant in Kyrgyzstan. This agreement was signed between Kyrgyzstan’s "Directorate of Construction of Power Plants JSC", "China Railway No. 5 Engineering Group Co.", and "China Overseas Engineering Group Co.".

Additionally, a Memorandum of Cooperation was established between Kyrgyzstan's "Chakan HPP JSC" and the Chinese "Tebian Electric Apparatus Company" (TBEA), with a focus on collaborative hydro-energy project development in Kyrgyzstan.

Moreover, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was established between the Ministry of Economy and Trade of Kyrgyzstan and the Chinese company "Gree Altairnano New Energy Co."

This memorandum outlines plans for constructing a factory dedicated to assembling buses powered by new energy sources in Kyrgyzstan.

Speaking at the Kyrgyzstan-China Business Forum, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov highlighted promising investment sectors within Kyrgyzstan, including natural resource utilization, energy, and e-commerce.

The Kyrgyzstan-China Business Forum was attended by more than 100 Chinese businessmen, along with approximately 100 entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan.
