Value of agricultural output in Kyrgyzstan slightly declines

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 23. The value of agricultural production in Kyrgyzstan totaled 151.275 billion soms ($1.7 billion) from January through July 2023, which is a decrease of 1.7 percent compared to the same months in 2022, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of the country, in terms of overall value, the largest share of agricultural products (27 percent) was produced in the Chuy region, amounting to 41.626 billion soms ($472.2 million). It was followed by the Jalal-Abad region with 30.954 billion soms ($351 million) and the Osh region with 30.385 billion soms ($344 million).

The smallest amount of agricultural production was recorded in the cities of Bishkek (282 million soms, or $3.1 million) and Osh (611 million soms, or $6.9 million).

The harvesting of the main agricultural crops is currently underway across the country. As of July 23 this year, cereal crops (excluding legumes, rice, and buckwheat) have been harvested from an area of 245,400 hectares, which is 1 percent more than on the same date last year.
