Kyrgyzstan records decline of electricity consumption in agriculture sector

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 7. Electricity consumption in agriculture sector of Kyrgyzstan amounted to 3,323 billion kilowatt-hours of in 2022, Trend reports.

Data from the Kyrgyzstan’s Statistical Committee indicates that this consumption decreased by 2.1 percent compared to 2021.

Additionally, electricity consumption by hotels and restaurants decreased by 3.7 percent during the same period.

However, electricity consumption in the industrial sector increased by 0.4 percent, in construction sector rose by 5.5 percent and in education sector - by 1.7 percent. A total of 16.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were consumed in the country in 2022.

Overall, the energy enterprises in Kyrgyzstan produced 13.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity last year, which is 8.3 percent less than in 2021. Approximately 86 percent of this electricity was generated by hydroelectric power stations.

At the same time, Kyrgyzstan exported 550 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2022, which is 0.7 percent more than in 2021.
