BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 9. A total of 20,184 tons of coke and petroleum bitumen were imported by Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2023, Trend reports.
The data from the National Statistics Committee shows that this is 74 percent less than in January–July 2022 (77,382 tons).
However, the value of imports increased by 1.4 percent, reaching $5.262 million, compared to $5.192 million in January–June 2022.
During this period, Kyrgyzstan imported coke and petroleum bitumen from two countries. From Russia, 17,159 tons were imported, which is more than double the amount in January–June 2022 (8,352 tons). The import cost amounted to $4.454 million, reflecting a 50 percent year-on-year increase ($2.953 million in January–June 2022).
The remaining 2,625 tons of coke and petroleum bitumen were imported from Kazakhstan. Import volumes decreased significantly, by nearly 96 percent, compared to the same period in 2022 (69,022 tons). The import cost amounted to $807,900, a decrease of 64 percent over $2.230 million in the corresponding period of 2022.
Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $6.7 billion from January through June 2023, representing a 31 percent increase compared to the first half of 2022 ($5.1 billion).
Kyrgyzstan's exports totaled $1.306 billion, a 34.6 percent increase over the $970.5 million recorded from January through June 2022.
The country's imports reached $5.398 billion, marking a 30.3 percent increase compared to the same months of the previous year ($4.142 billion).
