Volume of Kyrgyzstan's international reserves hits historic high

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 3. The volume of Kyrgyzstan's international reserves reached $3.7 billion in May this year, marking a historic high, the Chairman of the country's National Bank Kubanychbek Bokontayev said at a bank seminar in Bishkek, Trend reports.

He noted that Kyrgyzstan's international reserves increased from $2.8 billion to $3.2 billion in 2023.

"In 2023, Kyrgyzstan maintained macroeconomic and price stability despite a weak foreign economy. Thus, yearly inflation fell from 14.7 percent to 7.3 percent, reaching 4.4 percent in May 2024," Bokontayev added.

The Chairman of the National Bank also reported significant growth in key indicators of the banking and payment systems in the country.

Overall, the event included discussions on the current state of the economy, the situation in the foreign exchange market, and trends and prospects for the development of Kyrgyzstan's banking and payment systems.
