BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 24. Kyrgyzstan imported 14,806 tons of petroleum coke and bitumen from January through April 2024, which is an 88.5 percent increase compared to the 7,856 tons imported during the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee shows that the import value doubled year-on-year, rising from $2.308 million to $4.769 million.
The majority of petroleum coke and bitumen imports came from Russia, totaling 10,202 tons valued at $3.073 million, and from Kazakhstan, amounting to 3,743 tons valued at $1.412 million.
Additionally, 857 tons worth $273,979 were imported from Uzbekistan, and 3 tons worth $9,202 came from China.
To note, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $5.171 billion from January through April 2024, which is a 27.7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023 ($4.051 billion).
Exports amounted to $760.6 million, which is an increase of 19.7 percent compared to the $635.678 million recorded in January–April 2023. Imports grew by 29.2 percent compared to $3.415 billion in the same period in 2023, reaching $4.411 billion from January through April 2024.
