Kazakhstan's exports of wheat to Tajikistan increases

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, March 22. The volume of wheat exports from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan reached nearly 80,000 tons in January 2024, Trend reports.

The figure increased by 27,700 tons, or 53 percent, compared to January 2023, according to data from Kazakhstan's Bureau of National Statistics.

During January 2024, Kazakhstan sold abroad a total of 490,000 tons of wheat and meslin for $104.4 million. The figure decreased by 138,000 tons (22 percent) and $82 million (44 percent) compared to January 2023.

The trade turnover between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in January 2024 amounted to $93.544 million, which is a 6 percent increase compared to the same month in 2023 ($99.183 million).

Notably, Kazakhstan's exports to Tajikistan surged to $82.719 million, an increase of 30 percent from $63.651 million in January 2023. Kazakhstan's imports from Tajikistan totaled $10.824 million, declining by 69.5 percent compared to $35.531 million in January 2023.

Tajikistan's share in Kazakhstan's total trade turnover accounted for 0.9 percent, with Tajikistan's exports constituting 1.4 percent of the total volume and imports comprising 0.3 percent.
