DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 5. Tajikistan's Transport Minister Azim Ibrohim and the senior advisor-head of the cooperation sector of the EU office in Dushanbe Isabel Uriz Hernandez discussed the use and expansion of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (TITR, or Middle Corridor), Trend reports via Tajikistan's Ministry of Transport.

The meeting addressed issues of cooperation in the field of international transportation between Tajikistan and the European Union, as well as the connection of road networks of Central Asian countries with the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

Moreover, special attention was paid to the EU study on the promotion of the EU Global Gateway strategy for Central Asia.

The representative of the EU office noted that soon the EU will work on attracting investments in the infrastructure of Tajikistan.

Specifically, they want to develop checkpoints and a joint logistics center near the Fotehabad checkpoint in the Matcha district of Sughd province. There are also plans to introduce an integrated border management and digital network coordination system in Tajikistan.

To note, the Middle Corridor links the containerized rail freight networks of China and the European Union countries through Central Asia, the Caucasus, Türkiye, and Eastern Europe.

Multilateral multimodal transport infrastructure links the ferry terminals of the Caspian and Black Seas to the railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, Ukraine, and Poland.
