Japan, Turkmenistan mull joint projects

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received the heads of Japanese Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. and Sojitz corporation, Trend reports referring to Turkmenistan TV channel on June 28.

The prospects for the implementation of joint projects in several spheres, in particular in the fields of petrochemistry, power engineering, building materials industry were discussed at a meeting with President of the Energy System and Plant Engineering of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. Tatsuya Watanabe.

Kawasaki is interested in expanding the cooperation with Turkmenistan and ready to share experience and the latest technological developments.

Meanwhile, Kawasaki was involved in the construction of a plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas in Turkmen Ahal region not far from Ashgabat city.

The importance of the large-scale projects on the creation of innovative enterprises based on processing local raw materials being implemented in Turkmenistan was stressed during the meeting with Sojitz Executive Director Satoru Takahama and Advisor to this corporation Toshiharu Yoshimura.

The corporation has expressed interest in implementing such large-scale projects.

“Great experience of such leading Japanese trade and investment companies as Sojitz may be used in new projects for the development of the Turkmen processing industry and the production of products which are in demand in the world market,” the president said.

An ammonia and carbamide production plant was built in Mary city in southern Turkmenistan with the participation of Sojitz and Kawasaki.
