ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 1. The wholesale markets of Tajikistan currently show the absolute dominance of imported greenhouse tomatoes from Turkmenistan, Trend reports.

According to the EastFruit platform, Turkmen tomatoes have become a more preferred choice for consumers in the Tajik market, reducing demand for Uzbek-made greenhouse products.

Currently, in Tajikistan, which imports the majority of greenhouse tomatoes consumed, their prices are significantly lower than in Uzbekistan, which is still a major exporter of these vegetables.

Furthermore, from January through March of this year, the volume of exports of tomatoes grown in Turkmenistan increased by 3 percent compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Turkmen exporters sold 128,000 tons of tomatoes over the past year, which is 3.4 times more than in 2020.

Of Turkmenistan's total exports of tomatoes, 57 percent were exported to Russia and 28 percent to Kazakhstan.
