BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15. Daily electricity consumption in Uzbekistan in June 2023 increased by approximately 30 million kWh year-on-year, Trend reports.

As the country’s Ministry of Energy reported, on June 13, for instance, the republic consumed 231.7 million kWh of electricity. On the same day last year, the usage was 202 million kWh of electricity. The growth rate reached 14.7 percent.

On June 14, within just one hour, electricity consumption reached 11,080 MW. Compared to the previous year's figures, this number is nearly 1,600 MW or 15.4 percent higher.

The ministry emphasizes that the demand for electricity is increasing due to the high air temperature. This leads to additional load on the electrical grids and transformer substations. The heat can also reduce the conductivity of power lines by 20 percent and cause losses in the system.
