BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. The CzechTrade agency plans to open its office in Uzbekistan's Tashkent, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic told Trend.
According to the source, this office is expected to be established in 2024. It will extend its assistance to exporters in nearby Tajikistan and potentially Turkmenistan, depending on the prevailing conditions.
In the meantime, starting from July 2023, representatives from the existing office in Almaty, Kazakhstan, will provide support to exporters.
Meanwhile, during his visit to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan just recently, Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Sikela highlighted the significant potential for economic growth, innovation, and development both in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
There are about 50 joint ventures with Czech capital in Uzbekistan. Since the beginning of the current year, the volume of mutual trade has increased 2.6 times. In 2022, the volume of mutual trade amounted to $184.8 million, of which Uzbekistani exports accounted for $30.5 million, and imports – for $154.2 million.
