TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 30. Uzbekistan exported 121,300 tons of onion for a total of $29.7 million from January through April 2024, Trend reports.
The data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency shows that the recorded volume has increased by 147.5 percent compared to the same period last year (49,000 tons in January–April 2023).
At the same time, the volume of onion exports from Uzbekistan amounted to 18,300 tons in April 2024, compared to the previous months (103,000 tons in January–March 2024).
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan exported 514,800 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $298.5 million from January through April 2024. This figure has increased by 43.3 percent (tons) compared to the same period last year (359,200 tons in January–April 2023).
Russia accounted for the largest volume of horticultural product exports from Uzbekistan, with a total volume of 134,900 tons worth $78.6 million. Pakistan ranked second with 83,900 tons of exports worth $72.2 million, followed by Kazakhstan with 139,000 tons of horticultural products exported worth $38.8 million from January through April 2024.
The exports of horticultural products accounted for 3.5 percent of the total volume of Uzbekistan’s exports.
