Fifty six projects, worth some $500 million, are underway in northwestern East Azarbaijan province as joint venture with 12 countries, IRNA news agency reported on Tuesday.
Governor General Ahmad Alireza-Beigi said the projects are in the steel, handicrafts, machine building, and hotel construction.
He added that the province''s center for absorbing domestic and foreign investment was established in 2004. The center is prepared to cooperate with embassies and private sector enterprises to help direct the investments.
Twenty two ambassadors to Tehran have taken part in a program to get acquainted with East Azarbaijan province''s tourist attractions and potentials for investment in this sector.
The visit has been organized by Aras Free Zone Organization.
